Legends of Learning STEM Visions Contest Offers $1,000 Classroom Grant

Legends of Learning is kicking off a new contest Monday that will offer prizes of up to $1,000 that teachers can use to buy gear or supplies for their classrooms.

The contest calls on teachers to implement game-based learning in their science classrooms and then ask their students to answer the following questions: "If [you] were to choose a career in science, what would it be? Why? What impact do you hope to make?" One or more responses are then posted to Facebook, along with a photo or video. (The photo or video does not have to include the students. Judging will be based on the text of the responses alone.)

  • One top prize of $1,000 in DonorsChoose.org funds plus a one-year school license for Legends of Learning;
  • Four runner-up prizes of $250 in DonorsChoose.org funds, plus 3,000 coins for use on the LoL platform;
  • Five "distinguished teacher" prizes of 1,000 LoL coins.

Participants must create a Legends of Learning account to participate. (Accounts are free.) Only teachers in the United States are eligible for prizes.

The STEM Visions Contest runs Nov. 6–17. Complete details can be found at legendsoflearning.com/stem-visions-contest.
